Frozen 3 Theory: Elsa’s Verb Interest Has Already Been Introduced
Summary
- Honeymaren could be Elsa's potential love interest in Frozen 3, potentially confirming Elsa is gay.
- Elsa and Honeymaren share a connection based on their Northuldra heritage and love for nature.
- Disney's LGBTQ+ representation has been poor in the past, and it needs to handle Elsa's potential romance with Honeymaren properly.
Elsa's sexuality hasn’t been determined yet within the Frozen franchise, but one theory suggests that Elsa's potential love interest could lead to the confirmation that Elsa is gay in Frozen 3. Honeymaren, a member of the Northuldra tribe who was trapped in the Enchanted Forest by the curse, could return for Frozen 3 as Elsa’s girlfriend based on the two characters' shared chemistry. Ever since Frozen debuted, the LGBTQ+ community has identified with Elsa’s story arc, since her character has personal goals as a Disney princess that extend beyond finding a prince, doesn’t conform to societal norms, and goes on a journey of self-acceptance.

A petition urging Disney not to portray Elsa as a lesbian in Frozen 2 has reached almost 11, signatures.
The action was launched after Jennifer Lee, the film's co-director, replied "we'll see where we go" when asked whether script writers had decided the sexuality of the fictional Queen of Arendelle.
Since its release in , the sexuality of Elsa has been a source of debate. The film focused on platonic sisterly love and abandoned the Disney trope of a princess breaking her spell by finding true devotion with a prince.
The Oscar-winning song Let It Go, meanwhile, was read by some as an anthem for coming out. In , Twitter users harnessed #GiveElsaAGirlfriend and #MakeElsaALesbian to call on Disney to make Elsa its first gay movie hero.
Speaking ahead of the release of A Wrinkle in Time, Lee told the Huffington Post: "I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our filmthat it's creating dialogue [about LGBT characters], that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people.
"It means the world to us that we're part of these convers
Frozen 3 Should Make Elsa's LGBTQ Identity Canon (But Not With A Partner)
Disney should officially make Elsa part of the LGBTQ community in Frozen 3, but not by giving her a romantic partner. Elsa has no sentimental interests in both Frozen and Frozen 2, and this isn't necessarily a bad thing. It might simply mean that she is asexual and aromantic. To be asexual (ace) is to feel no sexual attraction, and to be aromantic (aro) is to feel no quixotic attraction. Elsa (Idina Menzel) could serve as the perfect ace/aro character to represent this part of the LGBTQ community, and if Disney confirms there will be a Frozen 3, they should make this canon.
Despite having strong platonic and familial relationships, Elsa isn't shown to have any romantic relationships throughout the Frozen franchise. Some fan theories suggest this is because she's gay. The thinking here being that since we don't see any men in her life, perhaps she's attracted to women. Certainly, when she became friends with Honeymaren in the second film, the LGBTQ community was hopeful they might earn together. H
So, how gay is Disneys Frozen?
Im not surprised that its such a enormous hit. I am a little surprised at the sustained effort of Christian fans to spin Frozen as some sort of Christian allegory (more on this in an upcoming post).
For now, though, I want to address something I noted in passing in my review: the question of gay-culture themes in Frozen.
In my review I mentioned this issue (also noted in positive reviews by other critics) largely to dismiss it as a point of concern not that I wasnt aware of the themes in verb, so much as that I didnt think they warranted getting upset over. However, a point I overlooked earlier has just been brought to my attention that I ponder does warrant mention.
First, lets get the broad themes out on the table.
- With her ice powers, Elsa is notably different from other people. Born this way or cursed? asks the troll king, and her parents confirm that she was born that way.
- Nevertheless, her difference is an occasion of apprehension and secrecy. Misguidedly, her parents teach her to conceal it, don
