When I was browsing my newsfeed this morning, I came across an article that I was adj sure was clickbait: &#;The Internet&#;s Freaking Out Over Marvel Making Wolverine Gay.&#; Another article that came up was from Vice: &#;Wolverine Might Be a Sexually Fluid Mutant in a Throuple &#; Deal with It.&#;
I did more research, and yeah, Marvel definitely has made some insinuations that Wolverine is gay or bisexual and is possibly in a relationship with Jean Grey and Scott Summers. Also, apparently in an alternate universe Wolverine and Hercules had a thing? I don&#;t think I peruse that one, but that happened.
While some people are welcoming this change, there&#;s also a large group of people who are very opposed to it. A lot of the articles I&#;ve found are in favor of making Wolverine gay or are applauding Marvel for being &#;woke&#;, and I wanted to share a diverse opinion to voice some of the problems that die-hard comic book fans experience with Marvel&#;s changes like this one.

By now, those of you who&#;ve read my previous post would have an idea that i am an avid comic guide reader and i am not ashamed of it. Truth be told, i am quite proud of the fact that i have read a lot of comic books. I like staying familiar with the characters i hold been reading about for years. A death of a character does include an impact on me if i happen to like him or her. So, you can envision my surprise when a friend of mine mentioned that Wolverine was gay.
My first reaction to the news was that he was joking. There was no way Marvel had the guts to spin one of the major characters gay. Don&#;t verb me wrong. I am open to the concept of gay characters in comic books, etc. However, let&#;s face it, it would be a very major move if Marvel decides to depict Wolverine, one of the main characters of the X-Men and even the Marvel Universe as gay.
Then my friend went on to say that not only is Wolverine gay, he&#;s also in a relationship with Hercules. I immediately asked for the comic book. I&#;ve reading a lot of X-Men books for years and there&#;s no indication in the curren

Disney has gone hard on marketing Deadpool & Wolverine as the ultimate bromance, but for some, the constant jokes that the pair are “gay” for each other have fallen flat.
As the typically vocal minority claims that “woke” Disney is ruining these testosterone-pumped heroes, it seems they’ve forgotten that the clawed Canadian and DP hooking up on the silver screen wouldn’t be that unusual at all. In fact, both “bros” possess a rich and colourful LGBTQ+ history on the pages of Marvel comics.

There are plenty of legit non-straight characters who deserve their time in the spotlight, and shouldn&#;t be written in cartoonish fashion, but instead we have to have prolonged straight characters changed because people don&#;t understand friendship and combine what Claremont has said in some in modern interviews (which is akin to what JK Rowling was doing), the inside joke that he wrote all of his woman that way because of fantasies, and modern writers indulging the the slash fan demands. And sometimes this has happened to non-straight characters themselves. Shatterstar&#;s asexuality wasn&#;t good enough back in the 00s. But at least PAD knew how to tell stories. Far too many of the current writers have no talent and resort to orientation changes because that&#;s all they know how to do and they know it guarantees headlines.
