Pride Friday ATLANTA - June is National Pride Month, and LGBTIQA+ organizations are hosting events for community support and to raise money for causes that affect their communities. Atlanta, notably, holds some pride events in June, such as the Atlanta Pride Run & Saunter, and some black pride events later in the summer close to Labor Day Weekend, but the signature pride event is held in October. The Atlanta Pride Committee operates the Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade in October, but also other programs throughout the year. NATIONAL PRIDE MONTH EVENTS TO ATTEND IN ATLANTA Here's why Atlanta's traditions don't mirror other cities: A drought in forced the annual Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade to move from Piedmont Park. The year Atlanta Pride was held way from Piedmont Park attendance suffered, according to the Georgia Voice. The festival moved back to the park in , this time in October. We invite you to link us this year and remember, we are stronger together. Runners and walkers are welcome to bring their little companions to participate. However, for everyone's security, anyone participating with strollers or Atlanta's gay pride festival is returning after a two-year Covid hiatus. A parade is scheduled for Sunday, with other celebrations Friday through Monday. Also returning is the iconic gay bar The Atlanta Eagle, which after years became a Covid business casualty. Owner Richard Ramey is reopening the business in a new location. “As I closed down November two years ago, and I sat there and told everybody bye, I told them that they were leaving but it was temporary," Ramey said. "And for me to be able to fulfill this promise is just beyond words.” The Atlanta Eagle was an LGBTQ community gathering spot on Ponce de Leon Avenue for decades. It's moving into a building formerly occupied by other gay bars, most recently Midtown Moon and Burkhart's, in Midtown's Ansley Square. The bar is re-opening on Saturday as visitors fr
